What happens in the summer? Can I sign up for Summer classes?
The class that you or your child is in will continue year round. If you are already in a class, then your seats are guaranteed for the summer also. If you are not currently in a class, then there is no guarantee that there will be availability. Enjoy summer travel and then let me know when you are ready to return and I will let you know if there are available seats. We can use a waitlist if necessary.
Why can’t the kids have summer classes in the mornings?
I have dedicated adult students and their morning adult classes will remain in the schedule year round so there isn’t additional availability during the mornings. Hopefully, the longer daylight and warmth will actually help kids be able to continue to enjoy the after school time once a week in the summer. Any additional daytime classes for summer only will be advertised using social media. Any such class would end with the summer and there would be no guarantee for fall time seats in another class offered at a different time of day. This is because existing students get priority to re-register and all registrations are subject to availability.
How many students will be permitted in a class?
Depending upon the age range, the maximum is 10 for a once a week class. One-time creative events/parties can have up to 18 attendees.
What if I will be out of town for a week or two this summer, will I lose my seat or will I lose my tuition?
There are a variety of payment packages for the Art Together Studio. I strongly recommend the Value 6 pack for students who plan to miss for summer travel but still want to attend summer classes.
What are the Payment Packages?
All materials are included in the cost of tuition. Checks are made payable to “Community Church of Barrington.” Cash is also accepted, please bring exact change.
Do you offer Art Parties?
Yes, parties are offered for kids and adults ages 6 and up. You may reserve a party date on any Sunday from 3-5pm for $25/person with a minimum requirement of 4 or $100, maximum of 18 attendees, subject to availability and reserved with a $50 nonrefundable deposit. An art lesson is taught in the studio for approximately 90 minutes and there is another party room where the parents can decorate with balloons, etc. so there can be a time of refreshments after the art lesson. Adults are not required at the art lesson, but adult supervision during the refreshment time is the responsibility of the parent and not the Art Instructor as they will be cleaning up the art studio and getting party artwork ready to go home.
What about Masks?
At this time, masks are optional and parents are in charge of whether their child wears a mask.
Will my children’s picture be posted on social media, websites, or advertising fliers?
Newer registration forms are more specific, offering parents a line item to mark in favor or opposed to their child’s artwork and/or their child’s photo being posted.
Earlier versions lacked this clarity and many parents were just verbally asked permission. If your child registered pre-waiver then please write the studio a letter if you DO NOT want your child and/or your child’s artwork depicted in any advertisements. If you are not sure, feel free to talk to the instructor. You can change your mind at any time with a dated and signed letter. Photos of your child and/or their artwork would only be used for the Art Together Studio and are currently being posted on Instagram, Facebook, MissAlayneArt.org, on posters about town, or in newsletters for the studio or the church.
How do you handle persistent negative behaviors in class if they arise?
Disruptions are handled with patience and kind teaching. There are classroom rules and the expectation of good manners. Consistently disruptive behavior will be directed to the parents and could merit being ejected from the class without a refund. If you have any concerns please consult with the instructor about your own child’s specific learning needs.
How does the Art Together Studio communicate directly with me if needed?
Email is the studio’s first method of notifying families of cancellations or tuition due or any other pertinent information. Your email will be blind carbon copied so it will remain private. Please add missalayneart@gmail.com to your safe contacts list so it doesn’t go to your junk folder. If you prefer another method of communication, please let me know. Other general information, such as the weekly class schedule, is available at all times on the website: MissAlayneArt.org
I have another question that isn’t on this list.
