This brightly lit, clean classroom has plenty of space, 580 square feet, where every seat can see the art instruction without being crammed. Social distance of 6 feet encouraged.
Students and teachers will wear masks when they enter the classroom and cannot be 6 feet apart.
Temperatures will be checked at the door with a no-touch thermometer. Anyone with a temperature over 99.5 degrees will not be admitted on that day.
Students will all be required to wash their hands upon entering the classroom and again just before they leave. There are two sinks in the classroom. Hand sanitizer and gloves are also available.
A virus, mold, and bacteria destroying air purifier for use in 600 square foot area is always running in the classroom. There is also a hepafilter air purifier, and a third ionizing air purifier in the studio.
All surfaces and art supplies will be disinfected either with sanitizing wipes/cleaners or with a UV disinfecting wand, when the students are not present, before and after every class.
There are 3 twin exhaust fans located in the studio windows and a fourth window is left partially open even during winter months to create a regular exchange of air. Wear warm layers in the cold months.
There's an entrance door, wear a mask and line up there where I will be checking temperatures with a no touch thermometer. Before they can enter they have to be less than 99.5 degrees F, then every student is required to wash their hands as soon as they come in the room and take their seat. The room is about 580 square feet and I have long tables where the kids are all on a front row basically and spread apart. The max class size is 8 and I hope to keep it at 6 for a while during COVID. I will teach at an easel and wear a mask when I approach them to help if necessary. There is a virus killing air purifier going in the room all the time. And I have a UV wand to sterilize art supplies before and after class that can't be washed. Art supplies will not be shared during class. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the room. I have wipes to disinfect surfaces. Then at the end of class, they have to wash their hands and leave out of another door. Students must bring their own art shirts with them to every class so I don't have to worry about germs on smocks and there will be no personal storage in the classroom. Students can bring a personal water bottle, but I do not want food as it is not safe to share food. Let me know if you think of anything else, I could incorporate for safety too. I plan to be vigilant for all of our safety.
